In 2014 in the windswept prairies of Wisconsin, Chris Peterson and Jon Compean had a shared passion for woodworking. Chris was a skilled woodworker, and Jon was a talented cabinetmaker. Both were captivated by the beauty of reclaimed wood, with its weathered charm and rustic allure.
They realized they shared a dream - to create custom dining sets that would be cherished by families for generations. They envisioned tables and benches that would become the heart of homes, where memories would be made and stories shared.
With unwavering determination, they pooled their talents and savings and Barn & Beam was born. They built their workshop in an historic cannery building they had salvaged, nestled among the rolling hills of the Wisconsin prairies. The sound of their tools echoed through the countryside, as they crafted each piece with meticulous care and attention to detail.
Many commissioned Chris and Jon to create their dream dining sets, knowing that they were not only investing in furniture but also in a piece of history and a piece of art.
As Barn & Beam flourished, they remained true to their values. They continued to use reclaimed wood, salvaging old barns to give them new life. They also hired local craftsmen, supporting their community and preserving the legacy of traditional woodworking.
Today Barn & Beam is a thriving business, and Chris and Jon's creations grace homes across the country.
